Advanced Sulphonation Technology For LABSA Production

Qino's LABSA production plant utilizes state-of-the-art sulphonation technology to convert Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) into high-purity Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonic Acid (LABSA). Core Process Flow

Sulphur Handling & SO₃ Generation

• Molten sulphur system with precise temperature control.
• Air drying system for optimal SO₂ generation.
• Catalytic conversion tower (V₂O₅ catalyst) for SO₂→SO₃ conversion.
• SO₃ cooling system for gas stabilization.

Sulphonation Reaction

• Multi-tube falling film sulphonation reactor.
• Controlled reaction temperature: 45-55°C.
• Optimal SO₃/LAB molar ratio: 1.02:1.
• Reaction time: 10-15 seconds for maximum conversion.

Aging & Hydrolysis

• Aging tank for product maturation (1.5-2.5 hours).
• Controlled hydrolysis with 1.5-2.5% water addition.
• Acid anhydride conversion to stable sulfonic acid.

Neutralization (Optional)

• Continuous flashing evaporation and neutralization system.
• Production of LABSA or direct conversion to LAS (Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonate).

Exhaust Treatment
